Census information is used for just about everything, including some very important things such as:
- Determining the number of seats each state will have in the House of Representatives
- Allocating federal funds for community programs and services
- Determining where to locate banks, offices, factories, theaters, and shopping centers
- Planning
and allocating funds for building schools, libraries, transportation
systems, roads and bridges, police departments and fire departments
- Developing social service and community action programs
